Ken Cole Basketball Death,National Basketball League Mourns Passing A True Giant Of Australian Game

The National Basketball League mourns the passing of a true giant of the Australian game, Ken Cole.

Cole’s legacy is etched in history. As a player, he represented the Australian Boomers at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. But it was as a master coach where he achieved legendary status. He guided the Adelaide 36ers to the 1986 NBL Championship with a team famously dubbed “The Invincibles,” compiling a staggering 24-2 record, a feat that earned him Coach of the Year honours.

Inducted into both the Basketball Australia and Adelaide 36ers Hall of Fame, Cole’s passion never dimmed. He remained the club’s number one ticket holder, a familiar and fervent presence at games this very season as the team chased playoff success.

The NBL extends its deepest sympathies to the Cole family and all who knew and loved this iconic figure. His contribution to basketball in Australia is profound and enduring. Vale, Ken Cole.
